Seaward Travel adds a fifth 61-seat Plaxton Panther
Seaward Travel of London has added a further Volvo B8R with 12.8m, 61-seat Plaxton Panther bodywork to its fleet. It has been supplied by the body manufacturer.
USB charging points are fitted at every seat and powered luggage locker doors are part of the specification. The coach is finished in white. It has polished alloy wheels and heavily tinted side glazing.
Seaward Travel General Manager Richard Cassell says the Plaxton Panther offers good legroom and luggage space. “It is one of five 61-seat examples in our fleet and it will be used mainly for airport transfers and private hires. It is a very comfortable single-deck coach for larger groups.”
Mr Cassell adds that the operator has been dealing with Plaxton since 2009. The B8R is powered by Volvo’s six-cylinder, 7.7-litre D8K engine developing 350bhp. In Plaxton’s range it is also available with Elite and Leopard bodywork.

Two new Plaxton Panthers have been added to the growing fleet of vehicles operated out of Wembley, London, by Seaward Travel.
Both coaches are 61-seat, 12.8m, Euro6 B8R models with seat belts, sophisticated DVD and entertainment systems, leather headrests, air conditioning throughout, I-Shift transmissions and alloy wheels. They are fully compliant with the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) legislation due to be introduced in London from the spring of next year.

Seaward Travel/Iveco Daily PHVC
Seaward Travel of London has taken delivery of two versatile lveco Daily 65C18 minicoaches which were converted and supplied by PHVC/01489 580333.
They carry 22 passengers and have a powered plug door, a reversing camera, air-conditioning, three-point belts and the Hi-Matic automatic gearbox.
Additionally, the rear two rows of seats are mounted on quick-release tracking, allowing them to be removed and replaced with a large cage that gives excellent luggage-carrying capacity.
"These minicoaches are in regular use on our school contracts," says General Manager Richard Cassell.
"Additionally, we remove the rear seats and replace them with the luggage cage for airport transfers at weekends, which makes them very useful."

Seaward Travel/Volvo B8Rs
Two more additions to the London-based Seaward Travel fleet are a pair of Volvo B8Rs with Panther bodywork, supplied by Plaxton 01909 551166.
They are 12.8m two-axle models that have 61 seats, and each comes with alloy wheels and a comprehensive Bosch entertainment system. They will be used on a variety of work including airport transfers, private hire and school trips.
“The new coaches join two identical 61-seat Panthers,” says General Manager Richard Cassell.
“We find that high-capacity vehicles work well for us They are always in demand, and the Plaxton Volvo Combination is perfect for that market. The great thing about the Panther Is that it combines style and performance."

Seaward Travel/Mercedes Benz Ategos
Seaward Travel of London has taken delivery of two Mercedes Benz Ategos with UNVI Touring GT bodywork, supplied by Taylor Coach Sales/01638 780010. They have 41 seats along with a DVD player and alloy wheels, and they are built on the 15-tonne GVW Atego with the 240bhp, 7.7-litre OM 936 engine coupled to a Powershift 3 automated manual gearbox.
"These coaches offer excellent luggage space and leg room, so they are equally at home on school runs, airport transfers and extended tours. That makes them very useful vehicles to have," says General Manager Richard Cassell. "In line with our policy of updating our fleet on a five year turnaround, they have replaced two similar vehicles purchased in 2012."

Seaward Travel sticks with Plaxton for coaches
London-based Seaward Travel has become the first coach operator in the capital to take delivery of the 61-seat variant of the 12.8m Panther mounted on Volvo B8R chassis, with two supplied by Plaxton (01909 551166).
The new additions join a fleet that is dominated by Plaxton products. They will be used on tours, airports transfers and excursions. Among their extensive specification are seat belts, comprehensive entertainment systems, and alloy wheels.
Says General Manager Richard Cassell: “We have found that the Plaxton Volvo combination works well for us, and we are delighted to have another two, top-of-the-range Panthers join our line-up of exclusive vehicles.

Volvo’s B8R chassis is powered by the 7.7-litre, six-cylinder D8K engine coupled to the I-Shift automated gearbox.

Plaxton Panther and Cheetah
Seaward Travel of London has purchased two new vehicles from Plaxton – a 12.8m Panther-bodied Volvo B9R and a Cheetah-bodied Mercedes-Benz Vario.
The Panther is fitted with 57 seats, I-Shift gearbox, Thermo King air conditioning and alloy wheels, while the Cheetah has Alison automatic gearbox, Thermo King air conditioning, 29 seats, and CCTV.
General Manager Richard Cassell says: “We are already operating coaches from 41 seats, up to 61 seats and so the Cheetah will be ideal for the smaller groups, and the Panther with 57 seats is very much in demand. It was delivered the week after our enquiry.”

New Touring 41 seat coaches for Seaward Travel of London
London based Seaward Travel has taken delivery of its first new Unvi manufactured coaches. Two 10 metre Touring models based on the Mercedes Benz 1524 chassis fitted with 6 speed EPS gearbox and cruise control have just entered service. The interior features 41 Politecnica Grand Rally seats plus courier, Hispacold air conditioning fed through overhead rack vents, convection heating, double glazing, full draw curtains, radio/cd/pa and dvd with drop down monitor. An enormous rear luggage boot is complemented by the nearside underfloor luggage locker that spans the wheelbase.
The new vehicles will be utilised on a range of duties including London transfers, private hires and tours. Commenting on the recent purchase, Managing Director Phillip Seaward said, “We wanted to add a good sized midi coach that could work alongside our full size vehicles without compromising the standards we offer our customers. We are a growing company and the two Tourings have increased our degree of flexibility whilst offering us the benefit of reduced running costs when carrying medium sized parties.”
